A couple of miles west of Arrochar is a Visitor Centre. Here you will find lots of useful information about the surrounding countryside. They organise walks, tours, cycle routes, even badger watches. There are a whole load of leaflets to pick up, informing you of interesting places to visit.
Definitely a useful place to call at.
Open April to October.

Loch Long is an excellent place for boating and fishing. Boats can be hired from the camping sites as well as in Arrochar. From the sites you can travel north to Arrochar, straight across the loch or southwards, forever seeking out good fishing grounds. If you see a boat stopped in one particular place your immediate reaction is that there must be good fishing there. It could be they are just very patient people!!!! Or optomistic!!
When you have caught your fish, build a fire on the loch shore and grill your catch.
If you catch too many fish, you then have to tour the campsite, giving fish away.

Fascadail Country Guest House

Fascadail Country Guest House, Arrochar

peterdhduncan Says:  Fascadail Country Guest House is well situated for exploring the lochs and glens of western Scotland. It is surrounded by large attractive gardens which look out onto Loch Long.Although our bedroom was on the small side, it was very comfortable. The owners provided a folder...

Ardgarten: Camping Club

Ardgarten: Camping Club, Arrochar

nickandchris Says:  The Camping Club also has a site on the shores of Loch Long, by the YHA and near the closed Caravan Club Site.Had a look round here. Smaller than the other sites but very pleasant. All pitches were on grass and sloping so I guess in wet weather a motorhome could have...

Ardgarten Camping and Caravan Site: Forestry Commision

Ardgarten Camping and Caravan Site: Forestry Commision, Arrochar

nickandchris Says:  This was a massive site, all grass pitches, again on the loch side. We had to stay here one night on our return journey as the Caravan and Camping Club sites were full.It was a Scottish Bank Holiday and it was incredibly busy with people piling in at all hours. They didn't...

Ardgarten: YHA

Ardgarten: YHA, Arrochar

nickandchris Says:  We didn't stay here but it is right on the loch side on Loch Long, next to the Caravan Club Site. It was the most hideous building, so out of place. I just hope the interior was better than the exterior.Open Feb. to Dec. Right by the loch.

River Croe: Caravan Club Site

River Croe: Caravan Club Site, Arrochar

nickandchris Says:  This was our type of site, only facilities were water , electricity if required and toilet emptying. When you have everything onboard, what more do you need from a site? The wardens were friendly enough but we were told off for having a washing line!!! I suppose it was a bit...
