Where Am I? Athens, Washington .... Glasgow!!
Favorite thing: Oh, look at this!
This is Glasgow. The picture is of the Old Exchange, now a Bookshop (with a cafe - thankfully) ... oh so civilised. You might think I exagerate, but there are so few places like this in Scotland (UK?) and so many beautiful old buildings are left to rot, my heart warms every time I see this.
Fondest memory: Explore this area, between Central Station and the Gallery of Modern Art, ... Buchanan Street, Queen Street .... some lovely street cafes, and George Square is just 2 minutes away. Conveniently placed between the train and coach stations, and a great area to hang out.

Look Up!! To See Glasgow, Stand Back & Look Up.
Favorite thing: I love the old builings with their stone columns, ornate carvings and warm sandstone, - Why can't modern buildings be like this?????
This picture shows a wonderful example, I think it is on Bothwell Street, or close by, heading west from Central Station. As you can see, the ground level is now a supermarket (Marks & Spencer).
Fondest memory: I got some funny loks from locals as I took this photo!
Everyone is just so used to this streetscape they ignore this beauty. But this, for me, is Glasgow.

Favorite thing: Its amazing how much you don't see until you start looking UP! I have walked up and down Buchanan Street sooooo many times but usually been too obsessed with getting to Lush, or whatever shop was next on my list to, pay much attention to the buildings!
It was only on a recent trip that I noticed this huge peacock above the Princes Square shopping centre and then spent the rest of the day looking up at all the buildings and their fancy edificies that I had barely noticed before. Its no wonder Glasgow is a former "City of Architecture"!!

Favorite thing: Notice the fact that Glasgow is amazing. It incorporates a brilliant blend of old buildings with really modern new ones. Yet, somehow it still manages not to look really silly! This is one of the things that I love about Glasgow is the fact that there is always something for everyone. Old, new, the good, the bad and the ugly..all in Glasgow. This is what gives the city a unique atmosphere

Favorite thing: Walk around and admire the architecture.
Fondest memory: Even if you're not Mr. Brady, you have to admire the varied architecture throughout this city. Right next to a dark, intricately decorated gothic church, there will be an ultramodern glass building. Pirty cool!

Favorite thing: Look up! The buildings are outstanding. You will constantly be surprised at the architecture.
Fondest memory: Walking around Buchanan Street, Sauchiehall Street, the Merchant City. Even when it's raining, Glasgow is
full of people, character, noise. It's a walker's paradise. The people are friendly too so it's easy to meet the locals.
