On a warm sunny day's walkabout around Glasgow's west end, and with the World Pipe Band Championships due to take place next weekend, at Glasgow Green, I diverted my explorations into the park, not only to see what's new but also to listen to the pipes and drums.......
The park always looks at its best in August, when all the trees have fully-foliated and plants are in flower and bloom, a pleasant and peaceful place to relax, especially when the pipers are playing.
Highland warriors danced over the blades of two crossed swords before and after their battles.
They were very careful not to touch the swords with their feet while they danced because they believed that this would bring them bad luck.
This exhibition was for a local bank so you wouldn't want to bring them bad luck!
If you're fortunate you may see this procession through the city centre! I'll guess it happens each year around the 2nd Saturday in June?...anyway bagpipes very evident if you enjoy them, me? I took refuge in a pub until they'd gone!
