Venues in Perthshire keep being voted the best places for live music. And with the largest music festival each year, T-in-the-Park, its getting a really good area to go for real scottish music culture. Check out the Twa Tams, Bein Inn and Taybank Bar - all 3 winners, and Glenfarg Hotel.
Also check out Bar Code and Greyfriars for young bands and traditional folk, respectively.
Read this tip on a friday night, it'll be steaming but the rest of the week, nothing :-)
Perth's music scene is similarly hard to find :-) ...

Twa Tams is very smoky and the music starts late - and they charge at the door - so be prepared, or go elsewhere.
The Ice Factory locally known as the Bucket, what can i say, well it attracts quite big name DJ's, last I went along to being Trevor Nelson.
The place has just undergone a rather massive refit and is certainly looking good, it certainly needed it because the decor was looking a tad tatty and dated.
The Ice Factory is owned by the same guy who owns a popular pub in Perth called That Bar. It is split into 3 areas and must hold over 2000 people, my favourite area is the Kasbah(r'n'b). Quite a few local neds do frequent this club but alot of people do swear by it.
Go along an see what its all about, judge for yourself.

Down by the harbour, this ice store has been converted into one of the "coolest" nightclubs in Scotland, with big names being attracted from London and USA to play.
Be prepared for young girls in nearly no clothes freezing outside as they queue to get in.
Ummm, I've not been inside yet.
