Galton Bridge 21.1.05

This bridge is one of the UK's earliest cast iron bridges built by Thomas Telford in 1829. When it was constructed, its single span of 151 feet (46 metres) was the longest in the world. It was originally a road bridge but it is now restricted to pedestrians. It now has a Grade I listed building status.
This view is from the platform at Smethwick Galton Bridge Railway Station platform in the late afternoon. The canal below is called the Telford Main Line and also going under the same railway station platform can be seen the canal it replaced.
