I know it's strange to be recommending Indian food for visitors to London, but Chicken Tikka Masala is one of the most popular dishes ordered in Britain. So if you fancy some GENUINE Indian food try and get yourself to a town called Southall in Middlesex.
It is in West London and only about 20 mins direct local train ride from Paddington Station, or a No.105 bus ride from Heathrow. Or take the Underground to Ealing Broadway and then a No. 207 bus to Southall.
Just try one of the MANY Indian cafes, most of which serve food and at very reasonable prices. The cooks/chefs are local Indian people who, at the end of the day, go home and cook for their own families. You're not going to get much more authentic than that!!!(Not outside India anyway. LOL). Apart from the food, Southall in itself is a tourist attraction. You can buy almost anything there from costume jewellery, fine silks (much cheaper than anywhere else in London I'd say), any kind of spices, fruit/veg or just window shop the numerous shops selling 22 carat gold jewellery.
It has been called Little India due to many of the residents originally coming from the Indian sub-continent. It is a totally unique experience, I know, I've lived here for over 40 years! Enjoy.
