Football

by Gili_S

Wherever there is green grass, there will be also place to play football. At weekends all those places are full of kids or adults from the amateur leagues playing their games. Nice to watch, but if you can, try to go to one of the premier league games.

Riverside Roar

by cheekymarieh

Middlesbrough FC play their home games at the Riverside Stadium. You will see Premiership football from August to May. Boro as they are nicknamed have a whole host of internationals on show when they play. The list includes: - Gareth Southgate, Ugo Ehiogu (England) - Mark Schwarter (Australia) - Joseph Job (Cameroon) - Szilard Nemeth (Slovakia) - Mark Crossley (Wales) - Massimo Maccarone (Italy) - Juninho (Brazil)The main stand at the stadium is the west stand and I would recommend the lower half from about row 10 upwards (so you don't get wet if it rains) or the upper stand. The seats around 100 are the more central ones in the stand. The club tries to encourage a family atmosphere within the stadium and I have never witnessed any major problems with hooliganisn within the stadium. Wrap up warm as you may have the wind blowing in off the river. It can be cold when you least expect it ..

A walk by the Gribble Inn

by kwanou

Here's a walk you can do to work up your appetite:Approx. distance of walk: 4 miles. OS Map No. 197 SU 902/050There are few public footpaths in the area surrounding the pub. For this reason it does mean a lot of the walk is along the highway, and whilst most of the lanes are very quiet and peaceful care should be taken for the first half mile; although a minor road it can sometimes be busy. The section across the farm land can be rather overgrown in July and it can take more time than usual to locate the path. Other than that it is an easy, mostly dry level walk. 1. Turn left from the inn back to the road junction and left again. After about half a mile take the turning on the right, cross the bridge and turn left at the bottom of the hill towards the level crossing at Woodhorn. Carefully cross the track and just past the entrance to the swelling, go over the stile in the hedge on the...

Conquering mountains.

by SingSoc03

If you like to conquer mountains here, you have several choices. The highest peak in England is Scaffel in Lake district. The highest in Wales is Snowdon within Snowdonia National Park. Lastly, the highest in Scotland is Ben Nevis in Fort William. The winner for the highest peak in United Kingdom goes to Ben Nevis in Fort William, Scotland. Warm clothings and shoes suitable for walking. There are several routes with different difficulty for you to conquer the mountain. There's also a well established track (easiest and most crowded) to conquer. If you like the most challenging path, of course, proper mountaineering gears are needed.
