The pond forms the centre of the village and it is here that most visitors come to when they visit. Populated by swans and ducks it is a pleasant place to sit and watch life go by. The church dates back to the 1600s and is called Christ Church. Across the road is the oldest house in the village called Mere House and to the west is West End where the villages shops are.
This small pond has an amazing variety of wildlife - for bird lovers there are mallard ducks, moorhens, swifts, black headed gulls and pied wagtails to be seen. Insect life is mainly water fleas, dragonflies and white dragon insects and of course toads, frogs, rams horn snails and fish include sticklebacks and of course there are swans.
Grain to feed the ducks is 10p a bag from the florist near the pond and at the village shop.
