Barging was so fun and a great way to see the countryside.
Our barge was £100 per day along with lesson, so was only £12.50 between 8 of us, so it is a very cheap day out.

The Kennet and Avon is an impressive feat of engineering, made up of two river navigations and a linking stretch of canal. It runs from the Severn Estuary near Bristol to the River Thames at Reading, over 100 miles long with more than 100 locks, some magnificent engineering and crossing some of the most beautiful scenery in southern England. It was only reopened in 1990 after decades of dereliction.

Stonehenge is great and well worth visiting.

We went in the middle of winter so it was freezing but great there was not too many people there.

You get a walkie talkie thing to listen to when walking around the area so you can learn what particular things were and what they were used for.

So easy to imagine what it was like there 1000s of years ago when it was put together.

Greaty photo oppertunity on a good day

    Only £5 to visit

Near the slaughter stone You can get closer..........

A walk along the Kennet & Avon Canal is worth a trip, for local wildlife and landscapes of southern England at its best.

The city of Caleva once stood here and now only the city wall remains as well as the ampithetre down from the wall.

Nice place to go for a picnic or a stroll around.

Edge of Silchester Common, off the A340, between Basingstoke and Reading. OS Landranger map 175, SU 630620.
