by sargentjeff Getting around London is fun. double decker buses, driving on the left side of the road. Those Brits... I love the Subway or 'Tube' and the guy that says 'Mind the Gap' when trains approach. Like no kidding, I can hear the train, why do I need you talking to me too. What they need is lights that flash for deaf people who can't hear 'mind the gap' Leave a Comment Theme: Other

From here in Canada I suggest Air Canada...They have about 4-5 flights a day to London Heathrow from Toronto.. The Transportations system in the UK is one of the greatest I have come across...The bus and trains are fantastic..May not always be on time but they go everywhere..I also rent a car and that is nice if you like to go to small towns..Remember to stay on the leftside of the road..HAHA! by Packerman Driving around England felt much like walking in this hedge maze (largest in the UK, maybe the world). My wife and I found the highway and country road signs to be very confusing in the direction they pointed. The signs usually were located right at the point where you needed to turn so you really have to keep your eyes open for them, there is almost no warning time to prepare for a turn. We were very frustrated at times driving on the country roads! Driving on the left side wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, I got used to it in just two days. The best way to get anywhere in the UK is by rail! Get a student discount card and use non-London routes! Good value for money! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

London has 4 Airports: -Heathrow (near Staines, in West London) -Gatwick (South of London) -Stansted (North of London) -City (in east-central London) In London, you should not attempt driving downtown because of all the congestion. Instead, take a double-decker bus or the tube. You can also take a water-bus, taxi, or train around London. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

London by dr.firas Metro or Tube like they call it here in Wonderland! is cool and good way to move in the city, the only bad thing is the different price of the tickets, for example in zone 1 you will pay 1-2 £ for only one use of the metro, but you can use it as well as you don't leave the tube out to the city, zone 6 in London will coast you 5£ so you see, it is different in prices, the far you go the more you pay! Its an Island! Take a plane or boat, or if you are coming from France, Eurostar is also fairly fast. Trains are generally not amazing at the moment so if you can't afford renting a car, coaches are excellent. Its only about 10 pounds to get from London to Oxford. Local buses are generally quite good and reliable in my experience too. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Being American, of course I flew into the UK, London Heathrow to be exact. I immediately took the Piccadilly Line (Cockfosters) to Earl's Court where I would be staying at. The tube is by far the best way to travel around London. I found them effecient and orderly. If you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing, I suggest you buy a day pass if you'll be there less than a week, or a weekly pass if you'll be there more than one week. Check what areas are covered by your pass, there are about four different areas that the Tube covers. The Underground is very helpful in getting around London, but if you plan to travel to other areas within the UK outside of London, let me suggest the National Express or the Rail. Both are highly effective ways to get around the beautiful British countryside, you won't be sorry you did. Leave a Comment Theme: Train
