Valle Crucis Abbey.
Dates from the 13th century and shows the sheer scale of buildings in the 14th century. It was largely destroyed during the reign of Henry VIII. Many original features remain, including the glorious west front complete with an elaborate, richly carved doorway, beautiful rose window and 14th century inscription 'Abbot Adams carried out this work; may he rest in peace. Amen'.
Plas Newydd is the home of Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby, "The two most celebrated virgins in Europe" . They dressed in mens clothes and entertained famous social and political figures of the victorian era.
It has attracted visitors since 1780. An exceptional historiacal house, containing many artifacts connected with the Ladies of Llangollen. Set in peaceful grounds, Plas Newydd is well worth a visit. Plas Newydd became the home of the "Ladies of Llangollen" after they left their homes in Ireland in 1780
Id never seen one of these up close before. The bridge which is only for canals & pedestrians! So high up, there are lovley views from both sides. I believe you can go on canal rides across too.
