The restored Cloisters include the Cathedral Café which was opened early in 2008 within the Grade 1 Listed Building St Mary’s Hall. In the most delightful of surroundings excellent refreshments are served here every day at quite reasonable costs.
At lunchtime a variety of dishes, from light to hearty, all using fresh local produce and a mix of traditional and modern recipes are served. Delicious deserts and cakes with tea, coffee and soft drinks are served throughout the day.
The excellent web site is packed with information and pictures.
DISABLED ACCESS the Refectory is on the Upper floor but a stair lift is available .

We were going to call into the Pub in Cross Square for a drink as it looked like a nice old pub but it was closed for building work. We walked around the corner to another old pub called The Farmers Arms.
It is a lovely old pub with a nice wood burning stove that really warmed us up in a part of the pub called the Glue Pot, There is a nice patio area at the back with an outdoor bar which would be great in the summer as it would be a sun trap with some great views of the Cathedral
We only had a drink as they did not start doing food until 18:00 but I would love to visit again to eat as the menu looks great.
