Drive out of Chepstow on the A466 towards Monmouth and the road follows the River Wye through some pretty villages,including Tintern.Home of this Abbey,over 700 years old,and worth a visit.About 15 minutes from Chepstow on the right.
It coats about £7 for a family ticket,its got the uaual facilities,ie toilets shops etc.s
How many steps !!
Just before Tintern Abbey (about 2miles)on your right theres a picnic area thats idyllic,really peaceful,lots of picnic tables,not many bins so take a bag for your rubbish.

Just off the A48 at Crick (aprox 4 miles West of Chepstow you can find The Ivy covered ruins of Runston Chapel standing in a cleared space that could once have been a cemetery, although there are no sign of any graves now. It is a small Norman Chapel that consists of a nave and a chancel, the arch of the chancel remains in good condition.

Good spot for a BBQ
The road between Usk and Abergavenny is a lovely country road to drive.Lots of places to stop,ideal for photographs and picnics.This was next to a bridge between both towns,just park up,and there it is,smans frequent the area to,lovely and peaceful.
