This small volunteer-run museum, with free admission, tells the story of the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers - the only present-day regiment to have survived from the Militia. From a muster in 1539 it evolved into a Posse Comitatus and, after enduring sieges in the Civil War, was a Militia Regiment for two centuries.Henry V, was born here.
The Monmow Bridge is a 13th Century fortified bridge .
It is the only complete bridge of its type remaining in the UK, and it crosses the River Monmow.
We came across it by accident, as it was just across the road from the car park and the pub where we had lunch!
There is a nice bridge over the River Wye that rebuilt from an older one in 1617 and widened at a later date.
The Library at Monmouth is quite a nice building it has a weather Vane in the shape of a ship which is the symbol of monmouths river heritage
