    The well is nearly 50 feet (15m) deep. Had the castle been completed, a gateway in the basement would have allowed water-borne supplies to be brought into the site.

    Caernarfon Town Walls

    Caernarfon was always more than a castle. It was a fortified town. Much of the town walls are still to be seen, and are in good condition around the harbour area.

    Caernarfon Castle - Battlements

    The great polygonal toweres of the castle are linked by battlements. You can still walk most of the way around the castle along these fortifications, at a considerable height with great views.

    Caernarfon Castle - The Watchower

    The Watchower is another of the grand polygonal towers of Caernarfon Castle. It stands near the Queens Gate, and you get good views of the town from the top.

    View from inside Caernarfon Castle

    You can get student discounted tickets to go in and see the castle. You can walk all the way around the top of the walls and there is a Royal Welsh Fusiliers Museum and exhibits on Welsh history.
