If you are going to zip around in your speed boat be sure to check the times of the tides as there are quite a few sandbanks in the Menai Straits. We saw these poor fellows get stuck about lunchtime and then saw them again rescuing their boat about 7pm after the tide had risen a bit.
If you take a boat out from Caearnarfon be carefull as when the tide goes out some parts of the Menai Straits are very shallow and your boat colud well get stuck like the one in the picture.
It was stuck there for about 6 hours before the water raised enough for them to be able to free it.
Certainly not the day they had planned.
