In the High Street: Shop Shop Shop

by lomi Updated May 29, 2013

Coaches arrive in the town every day, all year round for shopping. This is a friendly town with a back drop of beaches, ocean and shops.

There are plenty of chain shops on the high street, like Next and Dorothy Perkins, Orange. Among the cheap cafes with plastic chairs and ice cream parlors are Wetherspoons and Nero-s expensive coffee with free wifi and comfy chairs

I always, always go to one of the Fish and chip shops no matter that my husband complains that I come home smelling of vinegar and beef dripping.

Sadly the old market has disappeared, so nearly everyone shops in Asda on the approach road to the town or the small Sainsburys in the main street.

There is a shopping park a walk from the high street with the usual chain selling household goods and the branded shops like Currys and Lidl.

What to pay: See how far a tenner goes in Llandudno

So Many: Kit yourself in retro from the Charity Shops

by lomi Updated May 29, 2013

Kit yourself in vintage and retro for a fiver. You will also be helping those poor unfortunates at the same time, by buying from one of the string of Llandudno-s charity shops.

Hint. Recycle your old books and magazines by donating them. It might be me buying!

Retail Park: I cant help shopping

by lomi Updated Jul 28, 2009

Sad to describe a shop I know, but if you've lived in Wales as long as I did without decent shops you'll understand.

Debenham's used to be located in Chester, 50 miles away. Now there is a big store right in the center of Llandudno in the new retail park.

What to buy: Ladies and mens, children's clothes and shoes, accessories.

    various: Seaside rock

by sourbugger Written Nov 21, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

What to buy: Seaside rock is something of an english (and welsh then) institution. 'Rock' is not stone or sland for hard drugs, but rather candle-like sticks of very sugary candy.

Traditionally they have the name of the seaside town written through the rock itself. This is just about possible with llandudno, but more difficult in the case of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, which is little bit further down the coast.

The Ham Bone: What a great deli / sandwich shop / coffee etc

Provisions for a picnic don't come much better than this. The 'Ham Bone' in the centre of town, opp. the town hall must have been an old-fashioned butchers shop at some time. The Wooden floors and tiling remain but it is now filled witha terrific range of cut meats, pork pies, sausages, olives salads, pasta and the like.

They also serve coffee and a good range of Polish food as well.

Say hello to the pig plastic pig in the doorway as well, then make a piggy of yourself inside.

Burton: Great men's clothing at affordable prices

by islaazul Updated Aug 10, 2005

The clothes at Burton are very similar to H&M--the latest styles, at affordable prices. What started out as a quick glance inside turned into a half-hour shopping spree.

What to buy: The hoodies and button-down shirts are hip, and the quality is very decent.

What to pay: T-shirts are £15.00, and hoodies are around £25.00.
