    Rupert Bear Scenery

    Who remembers Rupert Bear??
Well many of the illustrations of Rupert Bear stories were inspired by the scenery in and around Beddgelert. Alfred Edmeades Bestall, the illustrator of these famous stories in the Daily Express newspaper for over 40 years, lived in Beddgelert - he bought his cottage there - "Penlan" in 1956.

Would you Adam and Eve it?

    by Charlie_UK Written Mar 20, 2006

Tryfan is a wonderful mountain to scramble up, a shark's fin on narrow rock with approximately 273,613 routes to the top, or something like that. The summit is marked by the upright stones of 'Adam and Eve', which may or may not be natural. The summit is exposed enough, but to make things worse some loony came up with the idea of jumping from one to the other. The small snag is that the drop on the other side is about a thousand feet sheer, so If you are lucky you may get the freedom of the mountain rescue helicopter. If unlucky, well at least you will have freedom from taxation forever.

    Creme Tea

    by Willem_oa Written Feb 26, 2003

A local tradition is to go out for creme tea after it rains. This consists of a scone with clotted cream and, of course, tea!
