Cardiff's Hard Rock Cafe is a temple to Welsh music, with memorabillia from Tom Jones and the Stereophonics, and also bands such as David Bowie and Heart. The service from here, as with every other Hard Rock cafe, was fantastic and the bar staff as so friendly and chatty!
As with the one in Manchester, it is split into a bar area and restaurant area. We werent eating so we just sat in the bar area. The bar itself reflects Cardiff's status as a port as it is shaped like a ship front. The restaurant area looked nice, and definately up to the standard of the other Hard Rock Cafe's.
UNFORTUNATELY, THIS HARD ROCK CAFE IS NOW CLOSED

The Great Western is located on St. Mary Street, close to the main railway station. The building was originally the Great Western Hotel, and today is one of traditional pubs serving good food at fair prices.
Favorite Dish: Since this was by first visit to the UK, I was looking forward to fish&chips which I tried in Bristol. So, in Cardiff it was time for ... hmmm... English breakfast. Which was a bit problematic to find in the capital of Wales, but "Traditional breakfast" was tasty and filling. (I had it for early lunch since the breakfast is served until noon. I don't think I would be able to eat it for a proper breakfast since I'm used to lighter food for breakfasts).

Definately pay a visit to the Brewery Quarter!
This caters to any taste with a range of restaurants from Thai to Indian to American to Mexican.
Worth paying that little bit more for the great international feel in this area.

CUISINE IS VERY VARIED IN CARDIFF AND CATERS FOR EVEN THE FUSSIEST OF EATERS, IF YOU'RE BORING THEN YOU COULD ALWAYS HEAD FOR MCDONALDS. I WOULD RECOMMEND A VISIT TO CHARLSTONS STEAK HOUSE, WHERE YOU CAN EAT A WHOLE COW FOR ABOUT £15, APOLOGIES TO ALL VEGETARIANS!!
THE BEAUTY IS, THAT YOU CAN WITNESS YOUR CHOSEN DISH BEING PREPARED IN FRONT OF YOU. TO ME THIS IS ALWAYS A GOOD SIGN BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE. THE SERVICE IS SPECTACULAR BUT YOU WILL HAVE A VERY GOOD MEAL
Favorite Dish: IT HAS GOT TO BE STEAK BORDELAISE, A MOUTHWATERING RUMP STEAK SMOOTHERED IN A CREAMY WHITE WINE AND MUSHROOM SAUCE. BATTERED CAULIFLOWER AS A SIDE ORDER IS FREE AND COMPLIMENTS YOUR MEAL PERFECTLY

Indian: Chillies, Whitchurch Road, near Gabalfa area in Cardiff.
Chinese: Fortune House, Salisbury Road, near the City Centre. Owner: Kevin.
Thai: lots, Silom Palace, also on Whitchurch Road near Chillies, is a decent place to eat though the interior is minimal.
Fish and Chips, Kebabs, Curry Houses: many.
Bar/Decent place to eat: Ha Ha, nextdoor to Hilton.
If you go to Cardiff Bay and Atlantic Wharf, there'll be plenty more choices, just be prepared to call a taxi back or get someone to drive you back cos the public transport seems to go there but never comes back!!
The Celtic Quadron, in an arcade nextdoor to the souvenir shop opposite the Castle entrance (not the souvenir shop inside the castle!)
Cardiff is openning up! So, takeaways for students and the starve are still here, and chic places to hang out for visitors, bars, clubs (there's a Hollywood film on Cardiff Clubbing alone called Human Traffic, check it out) where you can also grab a bite to eat. Bar Henrys looks good enough to me (heart of City Center)
Favorite Dish: Chillies: Best cooked lamb, any dish. I am confident of their skills, just order.
Fortune House: Sweet and Sour Pork with egg fried rice, King Prawn Stuff (now that's what you call King Prawns!).
Ha Ha: Designer/innovative/fusion dish under £8, order everything at the bar. Simple.
Hilton: Breakfast (for those who can stretch their wallets indefinitely).
Celtic Quadron: Welsh Rarebit.
