The Juboraj is a chain of Indian Restaurants based in Cardiff. The food is always of a high standard here and there are a few different locations to choose from;

Mill Lane - in the centre of town.
Rhiwbina - North Cardiff.
Lakeside - Roath Park.
Juboraj Express take away in North Road.

My favourite restuarant is the one in Lakeside, it is situated right next to Roath Park lake, it's a fantastic location & is a really nice place to go for a special occasion.

Favorite Dish: Chicken Jalfrezi

"Vegetarian Food Studio": Excellent Indian Vegetarian Food

taste of india

The 'Vegetarian Food Studio' is only a short walk from Cardiff Central Railway Station. It serves a wide variety of Indian food (including some Southern Indian specialities). You can also stock up on a colourful selection of burfi (indian sweets made with condensed milk). The restaurant is not a typical British-ified multicioloured asian restaurant, but instead is cafeteria style, more similar (I am told) of restaurants in India.

My favorite dishes are the Dosa pancakes (which I don't come across too often) though the potato curry filing can be very ..erm ...filling. And there's nothing better than a mango lassi to wash everything down.

The restaurant does not serve alcohol but, if you bring your own beer or wine the proprietors are quite happy for you to drink it, for a modest 'corkage' payment of £1.

I believe the restaurant is open 7-days a week until about 10pm in the evening.

Gateway of India: Hot Indian food

The Gateway of India

The restaurant is in a quiet northern suburb of Cardiff on a main road. There is parking available for clients of the restaurant. It looks very clean but I have not actually been inside*.
There is a take-away service and a dining area with nibbles while you wait.
The day we moved house a neighbour had a meal sent from the restaurant. There was enough to feed half a dozen adults. Many of the dishes were HOT and I don't know what they were called, but all was devoured.
The owner is very pleasant and friendly.

I've since discovered that this restaurants has won several awards:
Best takeaway Food in Cardiff 2004
Welsh Silver Food Hygiene Award Dec 2008 *
Small Business of the month [South Wales Echo] Nov 2008

Opening hours:
Daily 3pm -10.30 pm except Monday
Sunday 5pm-10.30pm , open on bank holidays

Favorite Dish: I liked the onion bahjis , the popadums and some of the less hot chicken and rice dishes. If it were not for the hot spices I would rate this one of the best Indan meals I've tasted, and my fellow diners certainly ate everything with gusto.

The Kismet - Early evening bargain

The Kismet is the ideal place to go just before pay day when the pennies are getting a bit thin on the ground. During the day, right up until early evening you can enjoy an eat all you like Indian buffet for £2.95, it's not bad either. For £2.95 you have a choice of rice, naan breads, a few different curry sauces to choose from, chicken on the bone & veggie dishes - you can also fill your plate up as many times as you like. You are also able to order a starter, main meal & rice off the menu for £6.95 which is very reasonable & the food is very nice too.

Favorite Dish: Chicken tikka masssala.

Favorite Dish: My favourite dish is the Chicken chat - Mmmmmmm!

Kismet Restaurant: 2.95 for Indian Buffett!!
jhorsfield30 profile photo

The only thing that could possibly match Kismet's £2.95 all-you-can-eat buffet in terms of satisfaction levels, would probably be a £2.95 all-you-can-watch German pornathon.
They have a wide selection of other delights on the menu.

Be Warned, the meat is chicken on the bone, more like drumsticks, however, being a vegetarian, I have no problems simply enjoying the curry sauce, which there are about 9 different curries, rice, naan brean, lovely steamed vegetables, potatoes.
Excellent Value for money.

Favorite Dish: Korma - Has a lovely texture and depth to the flavour.
Tarka Dhall - Excellent mix of foods to combine to give your tastebuds a thrashing

A great place to go for a Curry in the heart of Cardiff Bay. The place has a vast menu and the food is very good. It does tend to get busy on Friday and Saturday nights so it is advisable to book.
