Bosphorus: The Best!
This fantastic Turkish restaurant is on it's own small Pier in Cardiff bay. We called here after a great Day at Caerphilly Castle and St Fagans.
The weather was lovely and it was nice and sunny when we went in. The walls are all glass so you have great views from wherever you sit even if your not next to the window.
The menu has some really good things on it and we were having some trouble deciding what to have but after some deliberation we opted for the Sultans Feast, A 4 course set menu for £23 each. The first course arrived quickly and consisted of various cold dips like Houmous, Tzatziki (with it's turkish name) Aubergine salad and couscous with some lovely flat bread. This was followed by a selection of hot starters that had some fried cheese A slice of a lovely Sausage, Stuffed vine leaf and a cheese samosa.
The main course was a choice between mixed grill, Tuna, vegetable Mousaka or a kebab.
I chose the Mixed Grill, it was some chicken, pork and lamb served with french fries and salad, it was really tasty.
Desert was a selection of really nice Turkish style sweets and really finished the meal off
When we came out the sun had set and it was dusk, the lights were all reflecting in the calm water of the bay and it was just like being abroad.
Bosphorus: Turkish Delight!
Bosphorus is a real gem of a restaurant! Situated on its own little pier on Cardiff Bay, this Turkish/Cypriot restaurant is definately a must. I was quite reluctant to try Turkish Food, but as it was more Turkish Cypriot it had a lot of Greek inspired dishes, which i thought made it much easier to ease in to, but i really enjoyed everything and would love to go again on my next visit.
Favorite Dish: We had the Sultans Feast, and it really was a four course meal fit for a Sultan! The first course was a cold selection of starters, including HHumus, Manca, Kisir, Mantar Pilaki, Patlican Salata, yarpak Sarma, followed by a second course, a selection of hot starters, including Hellim, Sucuk, Felafel, Muska Boregi. These were both really tasty, and a great mix of Turkish food. For the third course, you could select from various main meals, and I had a Tuna Steak with a lemon caper sauce and vegetables, while Balam and Myfanwe both had Bosphorus Special Mixed Grills, consisting of cubes of lamb and chicken breast, lamb cutlet and Adana served with rice and vegetables. For desert, it was again a selection of small samples, which were all lovely.
Pictures to come soon!
Bosphorus: Try something different....
The Bosphorus Turkish restaurant is situated right in the heart of Cardiff Bays Mermaid Quay, in fact you'll find that it hasn't just got a waterfront position, it is located on a jetty right over the water. On a summers day they have al fresco dining for you to gaze at the waters while having your meal. I've only visited Bosphorus once, a few years ago. I remember having the salmon dish which was very nice if my memory serves me right. It seems to me that the Bosphorus is somewhere to go when you want to try something different with a wide variety of Turkish starters & main courses plus there are Turkish wines for you to try. From looking at the website it appears that they have a lunchtime set menu for £7.95 and a more varied menu for the evening, prices ranging from £11.
