Trams Cafe has a seafront position in the Centre of Mumbles. It has a few tables and chairs outside and bistro style seating inside. There is a wide range of food available displayed on the chalk board on the wall. We went on a Saturday afternoon & it was very busy indeed which paid testament to how good the food is. The majority of the customers seemed to go for the full cooked breakfast which looked very nice indeed. I chose the home cooked Cottage pie which was very tasty and served with chips and peas. The prices were very reasonable indeed and somewhere to go if you are on a budget.
For £5.99 you could have the Special Welsh Breakfast which includes;
Cockles & Lavabread
I must try this when I return to this lovely little bustling cafe.
Favorite Dish: The Cottage pie was lovely.
The Pier Cafe is a spacious cafe where you can call in for just a coffee and a cake or have a meal. It is situated alongside Mumbles seafront right next to the Victorian Pier. The food here is good value - the all day breakfasts are particularly good value and come with a cup of tea thrown in.
The George is a great looking pub situated across the road from Mumbles sea front. It is fresh and modern inside and if you're lucky enough to bag yourself a window seat you will get some great sea views across Swansea Bay. I have eaten here a couple of times and have not been disappointed once. On my most recent visit I had chicken tagliatelle carbonara followed by which chocolate and whiskey tart. It was really lovely and I will certainly be making another visit in the future to try out a bit more of the menu.
Mumbles Pier Cafe is open 7 days a week and is a nice place to go after your walk on the pier, wether to have a hot drink to warm up after coming in from the cold wind, An Alcoholic drink to calm your nerves after the moving planks of for one of the delicious looking meals you will be able to relax and enjoy the views over Mumbles Bay while the invisible Pianist seranades you. It will certainly amaze children to see those piano keys moving as if by magic.
we did not eat here and just had a drink before heading off but the food looked ok.
This great Italian cafe overlooks the sea. In Summer you can sit outside and admire the view. At busy periods you may que for a seat but it's worth the wait and staff are very friendly and efficient. Once seated you place your order at the front counter and they bring your order to your table so take note of your table number. There is a take away ice cream parlour to the side of the cafe which sells a whole range of different flavours and Italian ice cream is one of the nicest in the world I think. They have a specials board and a great range of meals on the menu from salads and soups to toasted sandwiches and pasta dishes or pizza.
Favorite Dish: The Italian Hot Chocolate is thick and to die for it comes with squirty cream or you can even have marshmallows on top. They do sell ordinary hot chocolate but Italian is my favourite. The selection of cakes/pastries is vast and portions are huge.
Excellent menu's featuring local sourced produce such as Penclawdd Lamb and Welsh Black beef. Great ambience and excellent value for money. Situated on the seafront in the pretty seaside village of Mumbles near Swansea. Well worth a visit.
Favorite Dish: Cannon of salt marsh Penclawdd Lamb served with smoked bacon, roasted shallots, port and rosemary jus. Lamb was served pink as it should be, fabulous flavour in the meat and the jus. Accompanying vegetables were gorgeous.
