for better than average pub food then try the Bridge at Waterbeach, which is a pretty village close to Cambridge
there is an amazingly vast menu and the food is excellent, with daily specials chalked up on huge blackboards in addition to the standard menu, blackboards are a bit of a feature here, ask to see the dessert choices and a small blackboard with the days selection is brought to your table
the Bridge itself is a very old building, with many extensions added over the years, there has been an inn on this site for almost 600 years, it was a crossing point for the river, but now a bridge has replaced the ferry and at one time there was a small zoo behind the pub
the location is ideal, right on the river with outside seating for summer days
Favorite Dish: the sea bass was very well cooked, as was the seafood pie
dont attempt the mixed grill unless you are very hungry, neither of us could eat more than half of the huge plateful

The White Horse has had an Indian restaurant inside it for a while now. The food and atmosphere is great. You do have to order your own drinks at the pub bar though.
The White Horse is a very popular pub for the locals and the staff are very pleasant.

This indian restaurant is in the back of the white horse pub. It's fantastic food, and at a decent price, and no need to book.
3 of us had poppodams, dips, curries and rice each, along with nan breads and a pint each, all for £13 each, including a tip. then you walk through a door and your back in the pub, and what a great pub it is! Friendly staff, great local ales, a juxebox in one of the bars, and a pool table. what more do you want???
Favorite Dish: Chicken jalfrezi with pilau rice
