Waterbeach is the home of a large military barracks(not sure what squadron, but will find out).
So, naturally, the village is full of army men/squaddies, especially the pubs, but, apart from the odd high jinx are no trouble at all, and very friendly, and in my opinion the villagers and the squaddies mix very well. The guys(and girls) bring a lot of money in to the local economy, and take a huge part in various village activities, especially the Feast(a fete held on the green in june every year), where they do different displays and help set everything up.

At the end of 1999 all the kids in the village of Waterbeach were invited to plant a tree for the Millenium celebrations.
There's about 3000 trees planted, but I'm not sure if there's that many kids in Waterbeach!
My niece's and nephew's tree are the brown ones in the photo!
It's not really a wood as such at the mo, but give it 50 years and it'll be a forest!

This bridge goes over the river Cam, and is right next to the bridge Inn(see Restaurant tips).
This pub and location is amazing in the summer in an evening, sat outside next to a river, watching the boats go by. I can picture it now.......

All over this beautiful village there are thatched cottages.
i didn't really notice them before as I'm so used to seeing them, but to an outsider they must look very pretty.
(Just don't smoke near them, ie, fire hazard!)

This church is on the corner of the main road as you approach the village green.
Some of the gravestones are dated to over 500 years ago.

These signs have been on the side of this house for ever, as 80 years ago it was the village shop.
Now it's a private house

Another house in the village, just near the thatched cottage from before. There are lots of styles of accomodation in this village, from buildings built 800 years ago to modern houses.
