Green Fees at the London Scottish Golf Club

    London Scottish Golf Club

It is spring time and the blossoms are out! :)

These are photos of the London Scottish Golf Club. Around the corner is the entrance, with a big sign saying 'Dont forget to pay your GREEN FEES'.... what's nice about this course is there are no 'exclusivity' htings to consider.

Anyone can come and play a game of golf, and you dont even need your own golf set, you can hire everything you need from the golf club house shop. They offer coaching for £20 an hour too.

They are quite strict with the rule of every golfer wearing a bright red 'upper garment' (t-shirt/jumper) whilst playing golf. This can also be hired.

    Golfing in the Common!

The Common has a beautiful golf course. It belongs to the London Scottish Golf Club.

This course was originally seven holes, but is now eighteen holes, laid out by Tom Dunn in 1871.

What is refreshing about this course is that it is uncommercialised, hazard fee (virtually), and still quite natural.

If I was a keen golfer this is the club I would play at.

    Horses

The horses share some paths with pedestrians, but mostly have their own. Theirs are the rougher paths with all the tell-tale signs of horses! haha

I generally prefer taking the paths that horses dont go down as I am so often looking around (and up!), I dont look down that much and the last thing I want is to stand in a royal 'something'!

It is a lovely sport - horse riding - and its lovely to see people of all ages partaking in this sport in the Common.

Come on... get up the hill :)

When we last went (30 April 2006) we went for a really long walk, a few kilometres long. Stopped here and there for some water and a brief rest, and then carried on.

It is a lovely place to walk, whether you are doing it seriously as part of an exercise routine, or out for a stroll with your friends.

    Cycle the Common! :)

    Cycling in the Common

This is a superb place to cycle. There are plenty of paths and the scenery is gorgeous. Nothing beats exercising out in nature! No smoggy streets and noisy (and rude!) traffic needed.. just a quiet lane in the Common.

You do share your cycle lanes with pedestrians, dogs, other bikes and horses, but hey.. a FAR better traffic scenario isnt it?? haha

    :)
