Favorite thing: From Yerevan , I took a tour to Dilijan , taking a short stop at the lovely lake SEVAN.
Dilijan is a nice area , covered by hornbeam forrests where you can visit Goshavank and Haghardzin monasteries , from century XII . Really worths a visit.
Fondest memory: THE HIDDEN MONASTERIES.

Favorite thing: Dilijan is a city in the north of Armenia, in the Tavush regionì. It is somwetimes called the "Little Switzerland" of Armenia, mainly because it is surrounded by pine-covered mountains.
Being Swiss I can tell you that the similarities end here: it surely looks like the town has known better days (it has) - and now it's holiday spot for those Yerevan rsidents that cannot afford to go elsewhere.
Fondest memory: While Dilijan is a very authentic place, one needs to add that it is partly also run down. However all around town there are some great examples of traditional architecture that are worth seeing.
It is also a good base from which to explore the beautiful monasteries of Haghartsin and Goshavank.
