In Spring the mountain villages look their best, with wildflowers and newborn animals all over. Many have old churchs or are the sites of famous incidents of the past. Armenia is an ancient country and you can really feel this in the villages. The views from on high are worth the trip alone. Bear in mind you'll probably need a 4 wheel drive, as the roads are often terrible, and plenty of time to get around.
