Top K'aghak' Kapan hotels
In the centre of the town of Kapan theres a very impressive statue of Davitt Bek, a local prince who fought the Persians with considerable success in this region in the 18th century. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture until I was leaving on a bus and unfortunately my angle wasn't quite right! But the legs came through really well ;)
Armenia seems filled with mountains and some day sure soon I'm sure it will be over-run with winter sports enthusiasts looking for good snow and beautiful vista's. In the meantime it can be enjoyed in its unspoiled state :)
Kapan has a small museum with some impressive archaeological finds from the locality. It has one or two unique pieces that are of national importance so if you like archaeology you should visit (if on the other hand you like the macabre you should also visit the museum as there is a rather creepy ancient burial on display in a glass case). Asides from the archaeology, the museum has some nice maedievel stone carvings, an interesting folklore room and a kitschy soviet room. The museum staff will be happy to tell you all tabout the famous people who came from Kapan whether you want to hear or not.The museum has been promised a new building which hopefully will allow them more space to display their interesting exhibits.
