Old Erevan: Armenia through history

by ludwig1983

This restaurant is divided into different sections spread on various floors. The higher the floor the more modern the decor and music performed. The food is good (not extraordinary) and live bands perform traditional Armenian folk songs, as well as contemporary Russian songs. Mind you, the music is loud. We were very satisfied with the service, although not all staff speak English. In addition, do not make reservations through the website, it is useless. Kufta

Art Bridge Cafe and Bookstore: Restaurant, Cafe and Bookstore all in one

by RedEaredPanda

A very heap and trendy cafe decorated with Armenian art everywhere.. There is art hanging from the walls and they are for sale.. The prices are written on a menue numbered according to the art and placed on the table. Has two separate rooms for smokers and non-smokers.. We literally ate breakfast here every morning since it was only one block from where we stayed.. They have a good selection for breakfast with fresh seasonal juices.. As you walk in, it's the bookstore first then the cafe.. I purchased my postcards and maps on Armenia from this place so I recommend this place for your map needs.. The staff speak Enlish so many many tourists come to this cafe.. They have menues in Armenian, Russian and in English.. Very nice staff working there.. My regular and favorite dish at Art Bridge was the "Armenian Omellete" and freshly made watermelon juice.. Gosh, the juice was so great, I had...

Marco Polo: Good Food by Republic Square

by RedEaredPanda

A heap restaurant in very close proximity to the Republic Square or the Hraparak. May choose to sit inside or outside.. They have excellent service and a good selection of dishes.. The menues are printed in English as well as Russian and Armenian. They serve excellent pizzas (sicilian my favorite) and tasty ice creams. They also have a great selection of teas which they serve in cool looking tea pots. Must try at least once. Loved the sicilian pizza, fresh strawberry ice cream and "cafe Glasse" which is icecream in coffee.

Aragast: Live Jazz Music at Nights

by RedEaredPanda

Another great restaurant in Yerevan.. The president of Armenia has been seen dining in this reataurant. They have a great selection of Armenian dishes along with other specialties such as pastas and pizzas. You may choose to sit inside or outside by the water. The jazz musicians play favorite Armenian melodies as the night goes on.. For a fee, you may request any tune you wish. An excellent restaurant overall with great service. We ordered just about every appetizer on the menue and listened to music as we talked the night away.. "Spas" soup is also very good at this restaurant.

ATLANTIC: A Great Outdoors Restaurant by Opera House

by RedEaredPanda

Spent a few nights at the Atlantic restaurant which was only a couple of blocks from where we were staying in Yerevan. The food is excellent and the service even better. They offer a wide variety of Armenian food and drinks including the beer Kilikia which is my personal favorite Armenian beer. The location is right across from the Opera House and adjacent to outdoors cafe Jazzve.. One thing to keep in mind, if you do decide to use the restrooms, it will cost you 50 drams which is US $0.10 (ten cents) I liked everything I tried at the restaurant. The pizzas are excellent and you may wanna try the Ishkhan fish (similar to trout) caught from the Sevan lake.

Armenian Pizza: Armenian Pizza, Lahmajoun

by RedEaredPanda

The BEST place for Lahmajoun, Armenian pizza which is delicious and very inexpensive.. I don't exactly remember how much they were each but somewhere in the neighborhood of US $0.20 each. It is not thick like Italian pizza with tomatoe sauce.. it's quite different.. You must give it a try and you must give it a try at this location only beacause even the locals order and take out or eat in at this restaurant. It is fast food so you get your order in a few minutes and if you're seating inside, you get to see them make Lahmajouns which is pretty interesting.. 2 Lahmajouns and a bottle of carbonated yogourt drink for me please!!!

Tumanyani Shawerma: Fast Food but Actually Tastes Great

by RedEaredPanda

Located on Tumanyan Street in Yerevan, it is a fast food style restaurant where you pay for your sandwich of either beef, pork or chicken in lavash bread and a drink at first and watch the chefs cut the meets for you from a slab of meat rotating vertically on a stick around the fire.. Then you get to ask them to add whatever extras you would like in your sandwich and walla.. Each sandwich costs 550 drams which is US $1.10 but the taste is worth a lot more. You do have to stand around the tables inside or outside and eat your sandwich.. Sorry, no seating in this fast food place.. The pork shawerma sandwich in lavash bread with onions and parsley with a carbonated yogourt drink.. YUM!!!

Old Yerevan: My favorite Restaurant in Yerevan

by RedEaredPanda

Old Yerevan has several separate floors. Each has a separate theme such as traditional Armenian music with wind instruments or Armenian estrada music with poetry and live traditional dancing.. You will not be disappointed if you visit Old Yerevan.. The prices are on the high side compared to other restaurants but not very expensive for the tourist. You may even get up and start dancing as you wish like we are doing in the picture. I really liked the BBQed Ishkan fish which is similar to trout.. I also liked the mushroom salad along with spas soup which is an Armenian soup made from yougurt and herbs..
