The climate is continental. Cold spells, however, do occur and low temperatures are frequent, both on the high mountains and in the deep, enclosed valleys. The average temperatures are: -5 degrees in Celsius in winter, +11in spring, +35 in summer and +13 in autumn. People in Armenia dress like in Europe. Early in spring and late in autumn short changes in temperature are possible here at the flowing of one day. For spring or autumn it is advisable to take warm and comfortable clothes. Summers are hot in Armenia, but be sure to bring an umbrella in the case of rain.

A passport and visa are required. Citizens of some countries may purchase visas for a stay of up to 21 days online or upon arrival at the port of entry. In such cases no letter of invitation is required from Armenia to obtain a single-entry tourist visa for a stay up to 21 days. For stays of longer than 21 days or any other type of visa, an official invitation is required.
For stays longer than three months, a residency permit must be obtained through the Foreign Ministry in Yerevan.
To see if your country is waived of visa requirement and purchase an online visa, visit http://www.armeniaforeignministry.com/consular/visa.html. For some nationalities visa will be required prior to arrival which may take about one month to process.

If you fly to Armenia, you can apply for e-visa! The advantage of e-visa is that you don't have to have an Armenian Embassy/Consulate in your countyr, and you don't have to go all way through all the bureaucracy. It's very easy to get a VISA in Armenia now. You simply apply at the airport. It costs around $30. I got mine at the embassy in the US and it cost more and was a hassle. Leave a Comment

Since I used to be a baggage handler I will not check a bag if I can avoid it. Hotels or hostels can handle laundry and you get thru Customs quicker with a backpack
You'll need some good walking shoes. I brought a pair of jeans...forget them. Yerevan is high and dry. When I was there in April/May it was 80F during day.
Don't sweat it if you forget it as you can probably find it in Yerevan. Just don't forget your perscriptions if you have them.
