View from Gayane's Homestay. Can you see Mt Ararat by MalenaN Marco Polo is a restaurant on Abovian Street with a large popular outdoor area. There are a lot of different things to choose from: snacks, pizzas, European and Caucasian food and deserts. The bowl with strawberry ice cream and fresh strawberries is delicious. The price is not too expensive and the food good. The music can be a bit loud though. This is what I paid for two meals (including the tip): 3300 drams for lamb kebab, French fries, tabuleh (Lebanese salad) and 7-up. 188 drams for two lamadju (Armenian thin pizzas with minced meat), tabuleh, bread and Sprite. 1 dollar = 585 drams Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Abovian Street 1/3Phone: 154 53 52

Ice cream by MalenaN Armenia Mariott Hotel is situated in the western corner of Republic Square and has got an outdoor cafe facing the square. It is a good spot for people watching. I was here one late afternoon. Most people were drinking beer, but I had an ice cream. I decided from two choices: three scoops of ice cream with whipped cream and fresh fruits (1400 drams) or three scoops of ice-cream with whipped cream and fresh berries. As the berries were strawberries, that was my choice. Guess if I was disappointed when there were only three tiny strawberries on top of the ice cream. I wonder why this was 200 drams more expensive than the ice cream with fresh fruits. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: West corner of Republic Square

Art Bridge Cafe is a nice place inside a bookshop (with books in English). When I was there there was an art exhibition with paintings by two Armenian artists hanging on the wall. They serve breakfast, sandwiches and pasta. As an example I give you the price of the things I ordered (in June 2003): Armenian coffee 300 drams Instant coffee 400 drams Bread, butter and jam 300 drams Pancakes (with few strawberries) 850 drams Sandwich with fried eggplant and goat cheese (served with tortilla chips) 1050 drams I visited Art Bridge Cafe also in 2006 and the prices then was: Sandwich with bacon, tomatoes and lettuce 1150 drams Coca cola 300 drams Leave a Comment Theme: OtherPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterAddress: Abovian Street 20, YerevanPhone: 521 239Other Contact: artbridge@netsys.am

by Narunj The Armenian kitchen is close to European. Different kinds of cheese, bread, alcohol and soft drinks and other widespread foods are available. While in Armenia, make sure to taste the Armenian khorovats, harisa, tanapur, tolma, and the trout of Lake sevan. They are delicious! There are a lot of restaurants, snack-bars and cafes, offering both traditional and European meals. Costs vary, but generally eating-out is affordable and much cheaper than in the Western Countries. Service is usually included in the prices though it is customary to tip 5%-10%. Yerevan has a good selection of restaurants offering Middle Eastern, Asian and European cuisine. Theme: Local

CUISINE - Traditional Armenian food is a poem, every line of which has its own particular aroma and harkens back to the ancient meals of shepherds and monks, dukes and citizens. Thousands of big and littlesecrets create the fame of traditional Armenian food. Original recipes, spices and certainly the art of culinary give an inimitable piquantness to traditional food. Cheese, greens and lavash - indispensable accompaniment for every meal. Lavash is a small and easy-rolling strip of dough, nearly a meter long, baked on the hot wall of a fireplace - tonir, kindled by dry grape rod. Ancient Armenians were rolling up barbeque (khorovats) in lavash. That tradition is popular up to our days. In the autumn, winter and spring we advise you to try grape - leaf tolma. Tolma is an ancient dish - it was popular in the years before Armenia was aware of cabbage. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

There are a lot of restaurants in the centre of the city and near tourist places. Just try any of them About the cogniac, just a small feature : it was the only one that Winston Churchill was drinking. He was a real fan of Armenian cogniak!
Armenian cuisine is very nice and healthy. Their 'visit card', 'lavash' bread with spice herbs and chese, flavour cake 'gatha', honey cake 'pakhlava' and many others. And of course, one of the most known things about Armenia - Armenian cogniac. At the time of USSR a bottle of armenian cogniac was a kind of present everybody dreamed of. Remember the marks - Akhtamar, Dvin or Ayni, they are highly classified at the world level. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by Petra_Khalil Plenty of good restaurants everywhere in the city. However, if you really want to enjoy Armenian food & hospitality, the best thing is to be invited home by an Armenian family. You will find yourselve caught in a tiny room with plenty of people and a table so full, you couldn't even put your fork back once you took it in your hand. You'll have to eat like you never ate before. Don't dare to refuse anything!
Everything is simply delicious. For beverage, try the Armenian cognac and the Armenian Koffee. Leave a Comment Theme: Other
