Melody cafe: Opera cafes
The Opera is surrounded by cafes, the first of which was Melody Cafe. In warmer weather, when the cafes are open, it is obligatory to sit outdoors and have coffee, tea, fruit blends, or a beer while watching the world go by, and the Opera is the #1 place to do it. The thousands of seats get packed and the sidewalks crowded, making people watching a full-time job.Melody (Meghedi in Armenian) is usually the first cafe of the season to open, and the last to close. The prices are the lowest, but service can be slow. Go with a relaxed attitude, try a pure fruit blend (called a "fresh") and maybe have some popcorn. They do have some food, which is not great, but is likewise cheap.
