Getting into Naxcivan from Turkey and Vice Versa
At the insisting of the US Embassy, I had to get a multi-entry visa into Turkey. Unfortunately, I only used the Visa once. Eastern Turkey is wonderful and I had plans to explore the area further before a family emergency postponed my plans. The Nakhchivan Airport has only three cities it flies to: Baku; Ganja; and Moscow. I found it ironic that there was no Russian Consulate in Nakhchivan, but there were flights into Russia. On the other hand, the Turkish Consulate was a very busy place within the city. As a foreigner, you are looking at paying $100 to fly to and from Baku. While there are direct flights from Baku to Istanbul, such flights can get pricey. Instead take the bus into Turkey from Nakhchivan. There are daily buses that travel close to 24-36 hours to Istanbul. I decided to to go Igdir (it cost about $10) and is the first city stop of the bus, then took a shuttle to Kars...
