Slow trains can get you there from Moskva, plus frequent tourist coaches from Sochi in summertime.
There are round boat trips to Novi-Aphon for Russians , also starting from Sochi.
Double entry tourist visa for Russia is required for western travellers, but travelling alone without Russian language skills is not a very good idea...
