The Octopus Cafe is an interesting mosaiced open space. The tables and chairs as is the menu are rather limited, but the building is enough for the look. It was designed by the Georgian sculptor Zurab Tzereteli also known as the country's first millionaire. None the less the prices here won't blow your budget.

I enjoyed the company of a small group of Abkhazian refugees who shared their stories of that region of Georgian, they are still unable to return to. They had spent over ten years in Batumi - now thats a long time to spend at a beach resort.

There was no Octopus on the menu, but there was beer, chicken salad and Ajara khachapuri - which was exactly the reason why I came to Batumi in the first place for. This is the Georgian national dish with a difference as it has a freshly openned egg ontop.

Sazandari: One of the best food in Georgia

  • Usually Adjarians (the residents of Ajara region where Batui is the caital) are not famous for their either culinary skills or service. But.... Only few days ago I discovered a place which is really something: if someone wants to try the best of the Georgian food he must definitely visit restaurant Sazandari which is on Era St. (there is the second Sazandari as well but I have not been there).

Food was so tasty that I can definitely say that it was the best I ever tried in Georgia. Among the best make sure to order Imeruli Khachapuri, Kupati, and Pilmeni in Kotani. The latter is definitely not Georgian but it was unbelievably tasty - make sure to order it...

Ajara khachapuri - which was exactly the reason why I came to Batumi in the first place for. Khachapuri is the Georgian national staple and from different region there are some variations. The Ajara region in the country's SW has one variety with a difference as it has a freshly openned egg ontop.

If you are in Batumi, you really must visit this place. I really liked it. There is a worm and nice atmosphere. And the food, drinks are served very well.
I’ve tasted salad “Cesar” and also Pizza, which of course doesn’t taste like real Italian, but is delicious. You can have different drinks also.
What is interesting in this cafe is that prices are low and quality is high.
While being there you fill like being in old Batumi…

You can taste different kind of dishes, starting from Georgian food, European salads and ending with good deserts
