Uplistsikhe
Oldest settlement of the Caucasus. Founded 1000 BC. It's 12 kilometer from Gori, but hard to reach. I advice to hire a taxi. You meet hardly any tourists although it's the most impressive place of Georgia in my opinion. It was a special site for pagan rituals. The residence of Georgian kings. Strategically located with a deep valley and cilffs surrounding. You can see 150 of the former 700 caves. Open each day, entrance fee 2 dollar.
