Be prepared to drink a lot!

by leonik Written Oct 26, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Svans have their own potent firewater called "Chacha" (approx. 60% alcohol) made from fermented apples to fermented bread to fermented herbs.

They toast 3 times. Each time for a divine entity. Can't remember who they are but one of them is definitely St. George, the patron saint of their country. On one of the toast, you're invited (and expected) to give a short speech...

They also drink something called Rakhe which is some herbally hard liquor similar to the Turkish Raki and Greek Ouzo... and you'll be made to drink copious amounts of those too. To decline may be deemed offfensive or impolite. And to appear inebriated is most distateful! So feign a poor stomach or some debilitating sickness which will excuse you from libation.
