I personally didnt think that this was needed in Georgia but I was dead wrong. It may be seasonal but depending where you stay you can either be bitten occasionally by some flies or eaten to pieces. Along with a mosquito net, this is one of the most beneficial products I took with me and it has been well used in Eastern Turkey and in Georgia thus far. Leave a Comment

Vitamins supplements are a great thing to carry with you while in Georgia due to the lack of extensive menus. Most menus consist of bread and cheese among others but a balance diet cost money. Taking a multi vitamin everyday will stop you from feeling khachapuri fatigue. Hangover pills are a MUST as if you spend more than one day in this country you will realize that folks drink a ton! If you are invited to a home you will drink to the sun comes up so take some meds from home in case you can find a good brand in the outer areas of the country. Leave a Comment

A good pair of walking shoes is absolutely necessary in this country! Most of the roads and plazas are cracked and wearing sandals will not due here because the roads are uneven and there is a lot of glass from broken bottles everywhere making sandals a dangerous option. I am glad I took good trainers because I even seen some needles around dirt paths near tourist areas ie Tbilisi fort and it is sad but a reality here. Leave a Comment

It def helps to bring some quality English or your native language reading material due to the lack of English etc in the newspapers, magazines and books. There are some daily papers out of Tbilisi but overall the country lacks in foreign languages. Also, the country does have satellite TV but unfortunately it is dubbed in Georgian and Russian making your TV advertised room either funny (due to not understanding) to useless. It depends on what time you are travelling around Georgia but late September and October are very rainy. It rains almost everyday in most parts and clears up later at night. The locals almost never wear raincoats and they think it is quite amusing that you will be wearing one. If you dont want to be giggled at then take a reliable umbrella. Leave a Comment

Summer in Tbilisi is extremely hot (30-40 degrees), so you'll need cool clothes...but there are some rules concerning dress for men...i.e. no shorts. Summer in the mountains can get quite cold...I remember sitting in my bedroom in Kazbegi wishing I had brought some warmer clothes - after the sun has disappeared behing the mountains, it becomes cold very quickly, especially if there is no power for any heating. According to my friends in Tbilisi, winter there is very cold....and power shortages mean it is difficult to get warm. So don't forget your winter clothes!!
Bring as much film as you can...you can get film in Tbilisi (after a bit of fuss, in some shops!), and a few other places, but i don't know how reliable it is. There is lots to photograph here, as the scenery is spectacular....I took far more photos than I was expecting!
In winter you can ski at Gudauri and possibly also at Bakuriani, near Borjomi...might be an idea to bring your own skiing gear, as I don't know if it is possible to rent it in Georgia.
A torch would be very useful if you found yourself outside your hotel after dark during a power cut...back up generators are rare, so that means there is absolutely no light whatsoever! Not fun when you consider the size of the potholes, and also the fact that many manholes are uncovered!! Leave a Comment

The times of electricity shortages in Tbilisi are long gone, but a torch/flashlight may prove most useful is this happens in other parts. And it happened to me twice, in Kutaisi and in Kazbegi. So, don’t forget to bring a small one.
Morning without a strong large coffee just isn’t a good one to me. And a good coffee outside Tbilisi may be difficult to find. So, bring a few nesscafe bags with you. Leave a Comment
