Hot in summer
I am glad I went there
Kariz-e-Kish (also called Payab) is an ancient underground water system with aqueducts and reservoirs 16 metres below surface, under a coralline layer. The system is over 2000 years old and covers about 10 000 sq metres. It has been restored and there are now a traditional tea house and handicraft stalls there.Arriving to the Kariz I was surprised...more

It's said that this tree is the oldest (about 600 years old) Lour Tree of the island. There are more of these trees in the island but this one is believed to be the oldest .Some people believe it's a holy tree.(but I've heard the natives don't believe in that.)The form of this tree is really...more
Shayan International Hotel used to be one of the best on Kish, but now there are many more new and expensive ones. Shayan is still expensive, but after walking around midday when it was very hot and humid it felt very nice to come into the air-conditioned café in the hotel.I had an ice-cream (IR 30 000) and a big bottle of water (IR 7000). Plus...more

Most people who visit the island are surprised to find another side of Iran. Although there are no bars, clubs or discos in Kish[Like other parts of Iran, alcoholic beverages are forbidden on the Island],but night life goes on joyfully till early morning. Live music, beach gatherings and other healthy entertainments, such as night-scuba diving,...more

...Once again I went back to the immigrations to get the paper I needed. When it was time to leave I still hadn't got my passport back, and I was told there had been a ferry to Bandar-e Lengeh just a few minutes before and that they couldn't give me the paper that day as it was Friday, so sorry you can't go! It was not what I wanted to hear but...more
Kish is a trade free zone and many Iranians come here to buy duty free cloths, electronic goods, cosmetic etc. There are many big, modern shopping centres, most of them in the in the east part of the island. I was not on Kish for shopping, but only visited a shopping centre for the Internet café. When I was there I realised everything closed at...more

When I visit Kish Island-Iran, most Kish people were not friendly to Asian. It was very hard to get a good Hotel, every one look unhappy if any asian come to the beach for swimming, and the worst part, I was not allowed to enter a mal by the sercurity. It is almost impossible to see any asian in the mall (actually, there was so many asian in kish island, mostly they come for visa run). What a bad experience.
Kish seemed to be full of expats (Indians and Pakistanis) wanting visa changes for UAE. This process should normally take just a couple of days but for many, the visas failed to turn up and they were forced to stay on the island.
There is nothing to do here in the heat, as one can only spend so long on the beach and in the shops. Unfortunately for those just waiting, there is only one English TV channel - BBC World, which gets to be very boring after a while.
Unique Suggestions: Take a good book or a few of them!

The less u bring, the comfortable u are!
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Your Swim suits ( both men and women-see my local costom tips ) Everything u need for swimming. Ur usual dressed type in Iran.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Bring any Medicine u use.
Photo Equipment: There's no rule for it, ur free.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: You can bring anything u want, but you cannot sleep near the beache.( Esp. in summer) It's very very hot, besides you all have to stay at a hotel or motel!

All around Kish Island, along the sea, there is a bicycle route, over 50 km long. Before coming to Kish I had hoped to have the time to cycle, at least part of the route, but while I was there it was absolutely to hot and humid, and not the bicycle season. I noticed in Saffein and by the Greek Ship the route was broken and construction was going...more
The first day I arrived to Kish I went to the Diving Centre to ask about the diving, and to my disappointment they were not able to dive that day because of to much wind. I was told that sometimes they have ten calm days with very clear water and then there can be a rough sea for seven, or a few days, giving bad visibility. The next day there was...more
