Iranian's are soccer mad and were on a high when I visied in 1998. They had beaten the Australian's to qualify for the 1998 World Cup.Ali Daei was a national icon and I purchased an Iranian soccer shirt bearing his number, which was later ruined by an Australian who hot water washed it with some blue clothes. Not deliberate of coarse.
if you are going to make a tour to iran and have litle interest to skiing ,don't miss the resorts in alborz mountains.make sure the resort of your choice goes wll over 3500 m above sea level.i was there many times and it was great.really definitely one of the beautiful resort in the world and it is unique in the middle east. you need a wind and waterproof (and warm) jacket.
