Well I think Going to diffrent places in tehran is a bit difficult for forigners. So I will explain about transportation in tehran a little. First of all when you get to the airport if you have no one to take you to your hotel there is place in front of terminal 2 where you can get taxis to anywhere you want for fixed prices. don't go with other taxis in the airport because they might get much more from you. After that again if you have no one to take you around the city a good way is tele taxi's. you can call 133 and get taxi for anywhere in tehran. These taxis are the only ones which have taximeters so you'll be sure for what you pay. Another way is to call car agents around your hotel. Other than these two ways in any street you stand there are so many cars taxi's and normal cars that take you to anywhere you want but I don't think thats a good way for foriegns to get around because you must know farsi language. If it's short distances it's ok to take these taxis. The taxes are low because 4 other can get on the taxi other than you. Buses and minibuses in tehran are normally crowded but very cheap. Overall I don't think that it's a good Idea too get around in tehran by yourself. You must have a farsi speaking person with you. for getting to other cities from tehran there are 4 terminals, The beihaghy terminal, The East terminal, The west terminal and the south terminal. There are all kind of buses with diffrent prices and the prices are low. so it better to get volvo buses which are the most comfortable. But Before going to these terminals you must ask which terminal has buses for the destination you want to go. for example, for going to Isfahan or Shiraz the south terminal has buses, But the beyhaghi terminal has buses for most of popular cities so its the best terminal and all the buses are volvo.

One Iranian dies every 24 minutes from car accidents. Up to 22,000 deaths, related to car accidents, were registered in the last Iranian year which ended March 20, 2003. These numbers have doubled by now from the large increases reported so far.
Luckly they don't have offical bars here in Iran, but i seem think people here are fully drunk with maddness from their wake in tell nightfall. Just buckle up and make sure to warn the driver if he Irresponsibly (if needed have him pull over and get out).

The flights from to/from Tehran to other cities in Iran are highly crowed and classified unsafe by most international standards. But if you must travel, plan ahead (at least a month in advance) and what ever you do, DO NOT fly with the Russian Tupolov (TU5) planes under any circumstances. It is also well advised to avoid flying Saha airlines at all cost and Kish Air for the most part; these two carriers have had many crashes or almost crashed due to lack maintenance. If fly is a must go with Iran Air (the national carrier) and fly with the any thing other then TU5 making.
I have a better idea, for those of you that have some free time and might want to enjoy a relaxing trip with out the usual Dive Bomb or mid air fire, try the train it is much better for your mental and physical health.

The streets of Tehran are crowded and confusing, so I would advise any visitor not to hire a car, but let someone with local knowledge do the driving for you. Use taxis to get around. They are relatively inexpensive, when compared to most big cities in the world. Establish the fare before you set off. You can share the cost with other people. Avoid the minibuses as they get too crowded and stop too often.

This photo was taken on a early January morning travelling on Vale Asr Ave - one of the main arterial routes in Tehran. The traffic doesn't look particularly bad here, but it is quite often horrific. Most of the old cars on the road are taxis as the public transport system is diabolical. Shared taxis are very cheap, but if you don't speak Farsi you are stuffed.

This is the cheapest way you have to go from Iran to Turkey and its quite simple to pass the border if you choose to go by bus. I took the SimaSadar International Bus Company in Tehran Bus terminal near Azadi Square.
The trip costed 220.000 Rials for students, the normal price is 250.000Rials. Not all companies make you the special student price. 220.000 is about 22 euros for a 2 day trip on 2500km: 48hours!

From this terminal in the Southern part of the city you can get buses to all the southern part of the country. Qom 2000Rials, Yazd 5000Rials and Bandar Abbas 10000Rials. You also have buses to the border city with Pakistan Zehadan.
You can get here from the city centre in a taxi motorcycle for 15000Rials up to 20000, for sure tourist price but even tough is at least 20 minutes going on a motorcycle.
