Motorcycle taxis

by johnsakura

This transportation in Iran is one of the fastes and fights back the intense car traffic in the cities as you can get to places faster ust payihng a bit more than the normal taxi. These guys will pass everthing speeding so grab on yourself really tight to the driver. The normal price for a short trip in the city will cost you from 5000Rials up to 20000 if you make 10km for example. I went from centre teehran to the bus terminal 10km away and had to pay 20000. For sure Tourist price but 2 euros for this trip was very cheap. Its also the most amazing transpotation adventure you can have while in Iran, please dont miss it!

Taxi boats in the Persian Gulf

by johnsakura

This is the main transportation for local people in The Gulf. This is a very ast way of going at least 45 minutes to some Islands existing in the Gulf are both of The Persian Gulf and the Oman Gulf. It doesnt lok safe, and even with the life vest existing in all the boats you will still dont think the trip is that safe. It isnt. Some taxis are quite old and you will feel like going inside a sardine can 60km p/hour in the middle of the water full of sharks...

Bandar Abbas to Qeshme Island fast taxi boat

by johnsakura

This trip takes about 45 minutes and takes you from the port city of Bandar Ebbas to the Island of Qeshme. This whole are is very beautiful and you can see many big ships passing from the Persian Gulf to the Oman Gulf.n my way back ride my taxi boat just stoped in the middle of the Gulf with engine malfunction. We had to wait for help for at least 20 minutes. Just stoped in the middle of nothing. Interesting felling, me in this very tiny boat along with 20 people waiting to see what would happen to us...Bandar Abbas to Qeshme ticket costs 7500Rials

Bus

Iran has this incredible cheap and fast bus connections between cities. People on the buses will be very gentle ith you and even if they dont speak any of your languages they will try their best to make you confortable and enojy the ride. Iran is a very big country so usualy bus trips take lots of hours but remember if you want to take the train that usually buses are quicker...Roads in Iran are quite safe apart from cities chaotic traffic system of course. But the big roads are highway style and its almost non stop.Water is served in all bus trips. This water comes from ice put in a machine, and 20 in 20 minutes a guy comes with a jar to serv you cold water. In 1st class buses you even have gifts from the bus company.

Iran by Bus

Not many, but there are few int'l bus routes from/to Iran. The most popular one is Tehran-Istanbul (and Tehran-Ankara). There are also few services from Tehran to Yerevan, Baku, and Damascus. In the other hand you can travel from Zahedan (SE Iran) to Pakistan by bus; or from Mashhad (NE Iran) to Turkmenistan (Ashgabat). As well from Tabriz (NW Iran) to Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan. All buses are luxury and comfortable. And the prices are reasonable; for example it takes less than 48 hours and costsapprx. $35 (300,000 IRR) to travel from Tehran to Istanbul. The most famous bus transport companies in Iran for Int'l routes are Seirosafar, Hamsafar, Iran-Peyma and some else!Unfortunately I couldn't find any website of them!

Also Iranian companies: Iran Air - Mahan Air - Caspian Airlines.By the way, some other cities in Iran has few international flights: Mashhad - Shiraz - Bandar Abbas - Esfahan - Tabriz - Zahedan.

Depend on your rush!

by aeroarce

Iran is a vast country, from one city to another you have thousand of km, and if you have reduce time you will have to think on taking planes, NO PROBLEM, there are three or four airline companies and serving the most important and interesting places, and the best of all is that is really cheap. travelling from Ahvaz to Tehran was 10USD in 1998 and seems that prices haven't changed a lot.

by plane, or by car/bus (see 'off the beaten path' section).a) By train b) there are extremely good bus connections from/to virtually everywhere.c) if you are lazy, take the airplane. Very good connections, at extremely low prices (10 to 30 USD!!!). Flights are mostly booked out many days in advance.

If travelling overland between Istanbul and Tehran nonstop there is a veru cheap bus - US$25 one way including lunch and dinner but it is slow, about 40 hours!Transport around Iran is effiecient, clean and inexpensive. Buses go all over the country, they are cheap but it is a hair-raising experience, it is worthwhile paying extra for air-conditioning. The train service is also brilliant and a first class sleeper very comfortable. Flying is also a good cheap way to get around they country, a flight from Tehran to Esfahan (400km) is about US$12. If you are taking a taxi always agree on a price first!

Bus journeys are very long, they always start at least half an hour late as well. Bring your own cup/mug with you - there is always water, sometimes tea to drink on the buses. They are however the only way to get around much of the country.
