There are buses to / from Ashdod the whole day, prices are very cheap and buses are modern.

Ashdod has a few of bus companies that provide service to and from Ashdod. One of them is Connex. From personal experience, I can tell you that the fares on Connex are much lower than that of Egged. The buses are also all very new and kept up very well too. Connex provides service to/from Tel-Aviv, Rishon leZion, Yavne, Rehovot, Gedera, Bene `Ayish, Gan Yavne, Kiryat Malakhi, and Ashkelon. They also run certain bus lines within Ashdod. Some bus routes to/from Ashdod are only performed by Egged or Metropoline so you can't always travel on Connex.
