    Alfredo - Italian restaurant

    An Introduction to the Restaurant

Alfredo is a kosher restaurant with italian food.

When my Uncle and Aunt came from France to visit us they wanted a nice place and this is what they decided.

The place is always full with people - in the morning and noon business people and evening and night - local people most of them religious (like i said it is kosher).

    What we ordered

We ordered for the begining a big focacha with wine for them and beer for us.

After that i orderd pasta with alfredo sauce - cream , butter , wine , garlic and parmesan.

    my wife orders the same.
my sister ordered lasagne with mushrooms.
    my father ordered salmon.
    my uncle ordered pizza.
my aunt orders also pasta but i dont remember with what.

After that we ordered caked and cofee.

    The Service
The waitres was very nice but it took a lot of time to get the food !
my father waited for the salmon so much we almost finished eating.

BTW - the food came out slowly but the bill came very fast !

    The Food
The food was good but the dishes were small.

The pasta alfredo was very good (but small)

Avazi is a well known restaurants chain in Israel.
you can eat here meat and middle eastern food.
We came here to party on a friend's birthday and it was really fun.

The food was very good - we ate humus , salads , french fries , kababs , flafel and for desert malabi and good tea.

In 50nis you can one choice of meat and eveything else (french fries , falafel , humus and salads) is free.

    The Kabab was very good.

Couscous is a middle eastern food , many jews from north africa that came to Israel love this food and everyone says that the couscous from their house/country is the best - Tunisia , Marroco and more.

My father if from Tunisia so i think that their couscous is the best.

There are a lot of middle eastern restaurants that you can enjoy a good bowl of couscous but i like the one that i am making myself and if you want here is the recepie :

I use 2 cooking pots for the vegetables that i put on the couscous :

    1: the soup
cut 1 big onion and fry it with oil until it is brown (not burn).
add cubes of 5 potatoes , 2 carrots , 2 zucchini , Humus , 2 sweet potatoes , small piece of a pumpkin and mix it with oil for 2 minutes.
Cover with water and add garlic , parsley , salt , pepper , cumin , a little bit turmeric and paprika.
cook the soup until the vegetables are ready.
I prefer cooking it until most of the water are evaporated.

2: it is not a must but i liked it : beans.
cut 1 big onion and fry it with oil until it is brown (not burn).
add beans and mix it with the oil , add small tomatoe sauce , cumin , garlic , salt , pepper and coriander.
cover with water and cook until most of the water are evaporated.

For the couscous i use Instant couscous and i put it with olive oil.

    Pizza
    by ophiro
Cafe Roma is a nice place to sit and enjoy a good food.
This is a kosher place that mostly serves Italian food.

On sunday and tuesday they have Italian dinner - all you can eat - with garlic bread , pasta , pizza , salad on 65 nis (14 usd).

They also have breakfast for 2 that will cost you 50 nis.

    Good food and nice place.

    I like the pasta.

  • Falafel is something like a national food here so there are a lot of falafel "stores" in here.

in petah tiqwa we have a few from the best in the country.
the best one is "4 tastes" falafel near the central station. check it out

  • I love the Fatut with chease or the Napoli fatut.
Fatut is like a puff pastry scrambled with eggs and chease.

the napoli is also with a tomato sauce.
it cost something like 20-30 nis as far as i remember.

    "Rus'": Try "Russian" style restaurants

  • Must say I'm not a dining-out type of person, and know more restaurants abroad than in my neighborhood. Also I prefer small elegant place where one can hear the person across the table. Having said that, I'd like to offer a note:

Looking at Israeli restaurant portal I realized there were very few "Russian" places there. So I'll try fill the gap. By Russian place I mean here the middle-size restaurants, that are normally used for family-style celebrations.
They came up as alternative to typical Israeli halls and positively differ from latest in size, atmosphere and food quality.
You can get a table for two as well, but need to call in advance.

Of course they come in a variety of styles and quality, but in general they offer fine and rich menu on a very reasonable price. Must admit I can't remember proper wine list in any of these places though.

There is normally also a band and a singer there and repertoir depends on the taste of the place owner. Also unlike in original "Israeli" places one can dance in there center of the room in between dishes.

These restaurants are mostly located in "industrial areas" of Gush Dan and Haifa district so you probably will need to take a taxi ride to get there.

It's a shame this whole sector is virtually ignored by native food lovers in Israel. From my own experience dishes they serve here are much superior comparing to "Russian" cousine for example in Helsinki, where "Russian" restaurants are said to be the most expencive in the city.
