Zohara and I checked out several of the souvenier shops in the old city of Acco and found them all to be overpriced. Many stores in Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem sell the same products at a better price. So check several shops before you do you purchasing.
Unique Suggestions: If you inform the shop owner of having seen better prices, be prepared to haggle and tell him/her the exact prices you saw. If the price is close to what you are willing to pay, ask for a 50% discount and see what the shop owner says. Expect a lowered price, they jack them up for tourists who have too much money to spend and don't care about paying double or triple the worth of an item.
Because the city is on the shores of the sea there are a lot of restaurants with a view to the sea , most of them are middle eastern and seafood restaurants.
In most of them the prices are high and the quality of the food is not the best.
Unique Suggestions: Enjoy the view and the atmosphere.
Fun Alternatives: Try a local restaurant , maybe inside the market and enjoy.
At the market and the bazaars, remember the middle-eastern tradition, barging for price. Never pay the price asked for, sometime it will be possible even to get 50% off the price. It all depends how rich the shopkeeper thought you are when he told you the first price:)
