Lake of Galilee

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Much of the ministry of Jesus occurred on the shores of Lake Galilee. The Synoptic gospels of describe how Jesus recruited four of his apostles from the shores of Lake Galilee: the fishermen Simon and his brother Andrew and the brothers John and James. One of Jesus' famous teaching episodes, the Sermon on the Mount, is supposed to have been given on a hill overlooking the lake. Many of his miracles are also said to have occurred here including his walking on water, calming a storm, and his feeding five thousand people (in Tabgha).

Galilee-home of Jesus

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

The Galilee region is currently a part of the Haifa District in Israel. Galilee was presumably the home of Jesus during at least 30 years of his life. The first three Gospels of the New Testament are mainly an account of Jesus' public ministry in this province, particularly in the towns of Nazareth and Capernaum. Galilee is also cited as the place where Jesus cured a blind man.So while traveling around the Haifa District every Christian should remember about these circumstances (and I did!).

"Mighty" Jordan River

by Martin_S.

Who decided that the Jordan River was "MIGHTY"??? Well either they never saw the river, or they had an even SMALLER river to compare it to...The Jordan River is located in the Galilee in what is called the Etzbah, or finger, of the Galilee, the northeastern portion that juts up into Syria and Lebanon. The Jordan itself receives water from several sources such as the Snir, Dan, Hatzbani, Tanor and other smaller streams. There is some white water rafting areas near the Kfar Blum area (close to Kiryat Shemona), but the width of the river is only about 10 meters (30 feet) and the white water reaches Levels I&II possibly. Most of the river is very placid as you can see with a few places where the water rushes over some boulders in the river. It can be a very pleasant place to stop for a picnic when you find some shade trees like the huge Eucalyptus that the British brought in during their...

Carmel Forest (Near Haifa)

by Martin_S.

The Carmel Forest is located south and east of Haifa. You can access it from highway 2 and 4 from the west and 74 and 70 from the east and south. Roads 672 and 721 run through it and you can find many stopping points for picnics, hikes or just enjoy a fresh brewed cup of coffee and watch the day pass you by. There is also the Carmel Forest Animal Preserve, the "Hai Bar" in Hebrew, if you would like to see some of the wild animals they are attempting to re-introduce here. You can find some wonderful "kodak points" for photos here, be it the Med, Haifa Bay, or a look into Haifa itself We found this little Kiosk in the middle of the forest after taking a short road off the highway. A quiet and out of the way spot, it was pleasant stopping there for a cup of coffee on the cold, rainy and overcast day we were there. This is VERY unusual weather for here were it is usually very comfortable...

HULA LAKE - LAKE AGMON

by Jackiekg

The Hula Lake, Lake Agmon, is just down the road from the Hula Valley Nature Reserve and at this time of the year shouldn't be missed. You will get an idea of the Cranes there are from my photos. There are many activities to do here. We took a golf cart to travel around as it is a large area. It was a cold, rainy day and my coat was in the car! As you go around there are stoppage points to look at the scenery at that point and to see the birds and animals.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hulah_Valley

Zichron Yaacov

by eyalkazin

Well, that's where i'm from realy.Very nice, very pastoralic town between Haifa and TelAviv. It's known for it's winery, the hotel on the hillside, and for the nice people living here. There is a very nice boardwalk any visitor should check out. Israel history freaks will find interesing history facts of how Zichron yaacov played it's part in the era before the indecpendance (since 1882).I'm not strong on the cafe/hotel/yada-yada stuff, but if you're coming my way gimme a shout-out (if i'm around).so as we (I) say in hebrew:saba-egozim (don't use it, not everybody does, just me) I live here. what more can i say. oh , yeah, the sunset is a must here. we're located on a the edge of the carmel mountain strip, and we have a mag view of the sea, so the sunset is amaz.
