    History of Haifa

by grayfo Written Jul 6, 2014

Favorite thing: There has been a small port in the area since the Late Bronze Age (14th century BC), although the history of Haifa itself dates back to the 3rd century and has in that time come under a number people including the Canaanites, Israelites, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Crusaders, Kurds, the Mamluks, the Ottoman Turks and the Israelis. Haifa was designated as part of the Jewish state in the 1947 UN Partition Plan that proposed dividing Mandate Palestine into two states.

    Beach and Leg exercise

by Pedralho Written Sep 1, 2008

Favorite thing: Beach, the restaurants on the beach.
    The Bahai temple

Fondest memory: yeah, the beach, my first dive in the Mediterranean. Water is warm, there is shade and grass. You don't pay to be in the beach. There is a nude beach south (Atlit), but didn't go there. The Baha'i Temple. The mall.

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Actually would take them for a drive around Haifa and Acco. When I visited in May 2005 I stayed at my old kibbutz, Ramat Yochanan. It is located about ten miles east of Haifa.

Fondest memory: I miss the heartfelt love of the kibbtzniks who warmly welcomed me back after an absence of 28 years. It was as if I had never left.

Blue Skies Green Mountain and Sandy Beaches.
Don't miss it next time you are in Israel!

    KianaInupiaq's General Tip

by KianaInupiaq Updated Aug 24, 2002

    0.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Fondest memory: Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God? Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:27-31
