Falafel Hazkenim, Haifa

Israel has the best falafel in the middle east (or so they say). Haifa has the best falafel in Israel (that's a given). And Falafel Hazkenim ("The Elders") is the best in Haifa. The falafel balls are fried to deep-brown perfection, the tahini is heavenly, the pitas are large and soft, and the elders are cute. The caveat: eat here and you won't be able to enjoy any other falafel...

Falafel is the dish and Hazkenim means the elderly. One of the best places in Haifa to try this dish, but if you can't reach this location, try a Falafel anywhere you can.

Favorite Dish: Falafel is the Israeli national food. Its pettis made out of cheekpees fried in deep oil and put with a lot of vegis into a pita, topped with tachini. a serving is between 10-15 shekels, and with a bottle of cold drink it makes a beautifull cheap lunch
