Jacko Seafood Restaurant (Moriah Branch): Mediocre Fish Restaurant on the Carmel
We were strolling in the Central Carmel looking for a nice restaurant for dinner. We came across Jacko, which is one of a chain of fish and seafood restaurants in Israel which used to have a good reputation.
Their custom has always been to serve to small plates of "free" salads and appetizers, with free refills, until the main course fish order is ready. Well, in this case the assortment of salads was quite rudimentary, with a few small plates for the four of us. When we asked for a refill for most of the salads the waiters were quite reluctant and asked whether we couldn't just choose one or two to refill.
When the main courses (of various kinds of fish we had ordered) arrived they were quite disappointing: mediocre at best, my grilled portion of red drum was burnt in a few places.
Service was also mediocre, and the ambience uninspiring.
Next time we are going to avoid Jacko.

Considered as the best seafood restaurant in Haifa and one of the best in Israel. It is usually full, but very efficient, so you don't wait a long time even when there is a queue.
It's not a fancy restaurant. The main quality of the restaurant is that it's a family run place for many years, and you can always count on them to give you fresh seafood. The owner takes the orders from every client and she can recommend you dishes according to your taste.
As in many Israeli seafood restaurants, the waiters will fill your table with various plates of salads. In this place, there is a Greek touch to the salads, which are very good.
The pricing is reasonable, you should pay 25$ for a full meal, including a glass of wine & dessert.
