Yardenit is the Baptismal site located at the Southern end of the Sea of Galilee. This place is not far from the where the Jordan River flows out of the Sea on its way down to the Dead Sea.
Yardenit is a sacred holy area. People come from all over the world to visit this unique site.
According to these texts, the baptism site is probably close to the Sea of Galilee, since all the biblical texts do not describe a long journey from the Galilee to the place of baptism. Thus, Yardenit, or its vicinity, is a logical choice.
Yardenit" is sort of a "little Yarden", where "Yarden" is the Hebrew word of Jordan.
Yardenit is open 364 days a year.

The "Community Wall" welcomes the visitors at the entrance to Yardenit. It describes the Baptism of Jesus Christ with the text taken from the New Testament written by the Armenian artist Hagop Antreassian in both ancient and modern languages.
“These panels are dedicated to Christians throughout the World, who at this place, have followed their Savior through the waters of Baptism” – the International Christian Embassy, Jerusalem, 2008.

The Jordan River flows at the bottom of the Syro-African fault. It originates approximately 200 meters above sea level on the slopes of Mt. Hermon, in water sources that flow throughout all year.
The river ends its course at the lowest spot in the world - the Dead Sea - at 420 meters below sea level. Along its course, the Jordan feeds two lakes: the Huleh and the Sea of Galilee.
In Judaism the river serves as the eastern border of the "Eretz Yisra'el", the Land of Israel.
In Christian tradition, Jesus was baptized here by John the Baptist.
The New Testament states that John the Baptist baptized unto repentance in the Jordan.
Jesus came to be baptized by him there. The Jordan is also where John the Baptist bore record of Jesus as the Son of God and Lamb of God.

There is another place which is regarded as Jesus baptizing place which is next to Jericho, not far from the dead sea. But, the sign here claims that there are some evidents tying the baptizing place to this spot. On the other hand, it could be they just wanted the money from the gift shop... Anyway, this is one of the easiest places to get to the water of the Jordan river (unless you go to the nortern section, where it's white water river). There is an easy access and even handicapped persons, in wheelchairs, can easily go down to the river. There is no charge to get to the water, but you will have to pass the giftshop where they will try to sell you religious souvenirs.

Yardenit is located at the bank of the Jordan River near Kibbutz Kinneret on the southwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee (Or the Kinneret Lake). It is located in the north of the Jordan Valley, 6 kilometers southern of Tiberias and 28 km from Nazareth. We got to Yardenit by bus. It took us half an hour.

The Souvenir shop within the Visitors Center is designed in the form of a bazaar in a Galilean style typical of the time of Jesus. It sells numerous holy items and rents robes and towels to the visitors, who take home a Baptism or a Rededication certificate.
You can see my Certificate which proves that I visited Yardenit and made an ablution there (unfortunately I haven't been baptized since childhood…).

Favorite thing: Kibbutz Kinneret which runs the Baptismal site was founded in 1913 by East European immigrants of the first Aliya. It is the second oldest Kibbutz in Israel.
It took its name from the ancient Hebrew name of the Sea of Galilee and from a Biblical village located beside the Sea of Galilee further north.
The village sits at around 185 meters below sea level,
